Research Packages

Perhaps you’d like to commission some family history research as a special surprise for a relative, friend or colleague…or even a treat for yourself?

We can produce multi-generation pedigrees with our Family Matters package, focus on specific ancestral lines as the Surname Sleuth or delve into specific record sets with The Reaper and The Parish Clerk. And although we specialise in English genealogy, we can adapt our packages for other UK nations too. If you’d like to purchase, extend or adapt one of our packages or have a question for us, please get in touch via our online form.

Here at Khronicle® we like to deliver a beautiful finished product, so please note that the stated hours in our package descriptions include time for report writing.

The Surname Sleuth
(From £230)

Has a particular surname piqued your interest? Then you need the Surname Sleuth on the case.

Starting from a single ancestor (male or female), we’ll trace their surname lineage over three or four generations. Core records (census & civil registration) form the basis of the investigation but research may extend beyond these.

  • Prices include civil registration certificates for post-1837 projects;
  • Three generations: 6 hours’ research & writing (£230);
  • Four generations: 8 hours’ research & writing (£300);
  • Targeted at post-1837 research but can be adapted to explore earlier eras;
  • Includes an attractive, thermal-bound research report with full references, source guides & transcriptions of research sources;
  • Illegitimacy may require research into maternal rather than paternal lineage;
  • Includes three- or four-generation pedigree chart.

Family Matters (£475)

Family really does matter, and exploring several generations of ancestors can bring incredible stories to light. If you’re intrigued by a particular branch of your tree, this is the package for you!

Family Matters delves into the story of your chosen individual, going back to all four grandparents. It’s aimed at post-1837 projects but we’re happy to adapt it for earlier eras too. Core records (census & civil registration) form the basis of the investigation but research may extend beyond these.

  • 12 hours’ focus time, including research and report writing;
  • Investigates a chosen individual, their parents and both sets of grandparents;
  • Post-1837 research includes official copies of civil registration certificates.
  • Includes an attractive, thermal-bound research report with full references, source guides & transcriptions of research sources;
  • Three-generation pedigree chart included.

The Reaper (£175)

There’s no need to fear The Reaper! A fascinating and oft-overlooked goldmine of information, death records can revitalise your research, revealing details of possessions, relationships and names of friends or wider family. In this package, we’ll seek out a range of death records for your ancestor and capture the stories that emerge.

  • A investigation into the death records of one individual, pre-or post-1837 (6 hours’ research & writing time);
  • Relevant records may vary according to the time, the place and the person, but may include a civil death registration, will or administration, an inventory of possessions, inquest papers, obituaries, an entry in death duty registers and burial details.
  • Our attractive, thermal-bound research report includes full references & source guides;
  • Family pedigree chart included where death records yield sufficient information about family relationships;
  • Includes full transcriptions and/or translations of all documents encountered in the research.

The Parish Clerk
(From £170)

Were your Berkshire-based ancestors model parishioners or did they end up on the wrong side of the law? Wealthy or poor, we can explore how your forebears interacted with their local community through our archival package The Parish Clerk. We’ll aim to narrate your family’s story through parish chest records, Bishop’s Transcripts and parish registers.

  • One (£170) or two (£340) full days of research into a single surname in one Berkshire-based parish;
  • Oxfordshire or London-based parishes considered on request;
  • Research back to the 1500s may be possible but depends on record availability;
  • Attractive, thermal-bound research report includes full references, source guides & transcriptions of research sources;
  • Includes a family pedigree chart;
  • Archival reprographics costs included.
